WHAT THIS WORKSHOP IS
The Frozen Chosen Workshop is a four-hour, hands-on off-camera flash experience designed for photographers who want to create strong, intentional light in unpredictable environments.
We’ll be working in real locations, potentially both indoors and outdoors, using off-camera flash to solve lighting challenges as they happen. Weather, light, and location may change — and that’s the point.
This workshop is about control, adaptability, and confidence with flash. The content may be a little SPICY so fair warning!
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
• How to balance ambient light and flash in real-world conditions
• Off-camera flash placement and modifier choices
• Creating dramatic, clean portraits in challenging environments
• Directing and posing models efficiently on location
• Adapting lighting setups when conditions change
• Problem-solving when the “perfect” setup doesn’t exist
This is not a lecture. It’s hands-on, practical instruction you can immediately apply to your own work.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
• Four hours of instruction and shooting time
• Two professional models (Sheila and Rory)
• Automotive shooting with a vehicle
• Multiple locations in and around Estes Park (TBD)
• Lunch provided
• Real-time guidance, demonstrations, and feedback
Locations will be selected based on weather and conditions on the day of the workshop.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• We may shoot indoors, outdoors, or both
• There may be snow — or there may not be
• Plan to dress appropriately for winter conditions
• Expect to move, shoot, adjust, and adapt
*your models will be in various states of dress - implied and lingerie is likely!
This is a working workshop, not a staged demo.
WHO THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR
• Photographers looking to improve off-camera flash skills
• Portrait, senior, fashion, and automotive photographers
• Photographers comfortable shooting in manual mode
• Those who want real-world experience instead of studio-only setups
If you’re looking for controlled chaos and real learning, this is for you.
WHAT TO BRING
• Camera (DSLR or mirrorless)
• Lens of your choice (35mm–85mm recommended)
• Flash and trigger (if you have them; limited shared gear available)
• Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear
INVESTMENT
$225 per photographer
Spots are limited to ensure hands-on instruction and shooting time.
